THE CEILING The building is in an Industrial area in the Melbourne suburb of South Oakleigh. Being in an industrial area noise generation is not a problem but naturally external noise getting in is a problem. We are building on the second floor which is a 6" concrete slab on a I steel frame. The external walls are double brick and the ceiling is held up on steel trusses and is asbestos cement on 5 x 2 purlins.

Facing South So we are now starting with lining the ceiling with 16mm (5/8") soundcheck plasterboard and 4" rockwool in the cavity.
