Carriage House Recording

This is Michael Jones' new studio.

I would like to extend a very special thank you to Mr. John Sayers
for his help, and guidance in designing this studio. Other members
of the HomeRecording.com forum were also instrumental in the development
of this plan. You know who you are!! Thank you all.

"This is the floor plan for a 1200 square foot recording studio.
It is new construction, from the ground up.
After development of the plan, construction permits were granted, financing
was secured, and construction began.

The nominal dimensions of this studio are 30'wide X 40' long, and ceiling heights
vary from 10' at the exterior walls to 15' in the center of the room.
The construction is "concrete slab on grade" and wood frame. The exterior walls
are "staggered stud" construction, and the interior walls are "double walls" except
for the kitchen and bath. The exterior EIFS will be brick, and the interior will be
a multi-layer wall system consisting of sheetrock-OSB-sheetrock. Insulation for all
walls will be 3" rockwool"

"The site was cleared and grubbed, forms were set for the foundation, and select fill
was brought in, compacted, and the subgrade was prepared for concrete."

"Another view of the foundation preparation."

"The vapor barrier is laid down, the steel reinforcing is set, and a "cable channel"
for routing audio cables from the control room to individual wall plates is formed up.
Plumbing for water and wastewater is roughed in at this time as well"

"Another view of the cable channel being formed up."

"The foundation is poured, cured, and exterior walls are laid out and built on the slab"

"The exterior walls are then tilted up, plumbed, and braced"

"Another view of the exterior walls."

"Upon completion of the exterior walls, the roof trusses are made ready for installation"

"Another view of the trusses being prepared for tilt-up"

"Interior, non load bearing walls are framed up. This is a view of the drum room and vocal booth."

"A view from the drum room, looking towards the control room."

"The kitchen framed up."

"The bathroom and mechanical closet framed up."

"A trench for the kitchen and bathroom wastewater is dug."

"The roof is sheathed and shingled"

"Another view of the exterior frraming and roofing."

Next goal will be to finish the interior framing, sheathe the exterior walls,
and rough in electrical, and HVAC.

Cheers!
