Hello all,

I am currently on my search for a new suitable place to life, and build my home studio (Mixing / Mastering, Producing and probally Vocal (Only) recording), i found a pretty nice place which i am considering.
The place has a nice basement, which i could use for the home studio. My only question / worry was that the ceilling height is only 2.15 meters (7..05 feet).
Considering my knowledge on this subject is the ceilling height important to put into my considerations? If so, is 2.15m a reasonably height or obstacle?

If you can find something higher it would be better. My ceiling is 7' 10" or about 2.4m, plus about an additional 8" between the joists. I am going to do about 15" of treatment to deal with the low height. You can make do with that low of a ceiling, but I hope you aren't very tall :D

Yes sir it is a consideration. The "squash" effect that a low ceiling gives you removes the ability for the sound to breath. This low ceiling immediately puts the sound in your face...so your treatments have to accommodate this effect.

Thanks both for the responses and advice.
Looking more around again for other places! To find the perfect spot!
