Hi good people,

From one side I'm starting the new place from scratch, but actually
the concrete walls, floor and ceiling are already made. So I'm trying
to design adequate control and tracking rooms regarding 245 cm height
of the building and the girders direction regarding simmetry of the CR.
The uncommon geometry, the lack of experience and my wish to be part
of this great place made me write.

Do you thing my layout is appropriate?
Any suggestions for better space distribution?
Thank you in advance for any word, advice and kind of support.

Location: Bulgaria, Asenovgrad
Room detail:
floor - ferroconcrete 8 cm
ceiling - ferroconcrete 12 cm
walls, girders - ferroconcrete 25 cm
room height - 245 cm
K1 - the only column in the room

goal: Decent place for creating, recording and mixing my music.

Attached files: 1. My layout /so far/ for the rooms
2. Pictures for layout
3. Actual 3D model for SketchUp 8

welcome! overall the design looks appropriate for the space. i think if you can move the CR door a bit forward to allow better access that would be good. also consider if you can use some of the air lock area and the upper sloped wall area to add trapping since you'll want to leverage all available space for that.

Thanks for your words Glenn.
Greetings from Bulgaria!

Do you think this bass trap position and size will be enough?
Here is the SkethcUp model

Again for bass trap position to ask, do you mean other air lock area?
I also consider to angle ceiling in front - both for aesthetical and acoustical.
Is it worth?

Eftim

Hi Glenn,

Sorry for the delay, but a recent client project took my time. Thanks a lot for sketching your advice for me.
I understand the idea, but if the drywall is mounted like this /uploaded picture/ there is no place for bass traps!
Or I miss something?
I was thinking about building drywall trapeze and after that adding bass traps into the angles.

I consider to use metal profiles for the framing - maybe from the Knauf catalog.
Soon a detailed SketchUp file will be uploaded for your opinion :-)

Thanks again for your time
Eftim

by the way here is the list of my future gear:
1 Adam Audio A7X pair
2 Adam Audio Sub8
3 NEUMANN TLM 102
4 SHURE SM58
5 Beyerdynamic DT 880 PRO for CR
6 SENNHEISER HD 380 PRO for recording
7 RME Fireface 400 or STEINBERG MR816 X - kind of dilemma here :-)
8 UAD-2 Duo
9 API 500 lunchbox for other preams option
and the money is gone...

the edge of the drawing i provided would be the drywall, not the inner wall which is slats, panels, cloth, etc to create the inner room shape and the other areas are the pockets where you install trapping or are air cavities for slats etc.

Thank you Glenn! You guys are amazing – sharing valuable time and experience with us.
Respect! Please call me if you planning to visit my country – I’ll be in your service.

Back to the point: do you think wall mounting is the proper decision for ADAM A7X and
my space dimension? I know that placing monitors into the wall is a basic requirement
for a good room, but the problem with low freq increasing in this case stops me.
I need your opinion before really make this step. About treatment part of the room
I was thinking to make some measurements when drywall construction is done and
than to add absorbers and diffusers.

even if you don't soffit mount the speakers, you want as much bass trapping as you can get but also consider the wall-ceiling corners and overhead to add absorption and diffusers.

I've decided to work with professional studio designer. The idea to educate myself from forums and books
takes too much time. I will post the process with pictures step by step.
Thanks all of you.
