Ahamdulillah ,

thanx,....man(Stuart/soundman), really good to clarify almost.:).......in my country , gypsum boards available are...12mm ,9mm and 6mm...so i gues its 12mm dual layers...right?

with the air gap between the leaves packed full of fiberglass or mineral wool insulation

the air gap plus insulation is the "spring"

can it be done by hanging insulation or just by say stack of glasswool(70kg/qm)?
Quote:
Now build your inner leaf ceiling resting ONLY on the new inner leaf wall that you just built. Same thing: fill the gap between old ceiling and new ceiling with insulation,
a couple of layers of 5/8 drywall, seal it airtight.

....now this time..by couple layers ...u mean outer leaf of the new ceiling right?
i have a question? ...lol..should the new ceilings of both rooms share common air gap from the old ceiling or need to be partitioned?......im sending the pic of new ceiling idea ...
.....in the pic
the are heights of A,B,C,D,E,M are alright? or need to increase?
should the L and O studs needs to be touched to the old concrete ceiling as for partition the old ceiling ? or leave as it is?....sorry for asking so many questions.......

I would use thicker gypsum board, more like 15mm.

Green Glue is not glue! The name is confusing. You cannot use it to stick things together. It is not an adhesive. It is a special acoustic compound, used to improve isolation, especially low frequency isolation.

OK, if you can't get Green Glue, then just add one extra layer of drywall to each leaf. It will give you kind of similar results.

And if you can't get thick drywall, then maybe consider using thick wood: can you get 15 mm plywood, or 15 mm MDF, or 15 mm OSB? Or even better, 18 mm? If so, then use those.
