yea, after i posted this i was thinking about something a bit more along the lines of Djo's setup to give you 2 tracking rooms/booths and a slightly smaller CR - i'll post something shortly with the idea just so you have it in case it works better for you.

i'd build the framing for the soffits a bit bigger and this way you can change out the speaker box and adjust the soffit plate to accomodate different sizes later. something in the 8" range is probably the right size for this room although a subwoofer may be useful.

Hey Glenn

I hope that you are well and everything is kool that side of the world.

THe design that really stole my heart was the first one you did, where you used the whole room. that one give me some space and i really love that one. and it was more decorative than the ones you did after that.

I was wondering if we could work on that one, it is the best, but maybe it will not be right for the speakers. I really like that design. Do you think that the Floor has to have a raised floor at the end. Let me know. The thing is that John had said we need to make the room bigger in the fisrt place, so we demolished the section fo the stuio that was ment to be the store room to increase the CR space. Now I really like the space that it has created and would not like to cut down the space. Can we keep the size to that of the studio that it is? EVEn thought I use MAUSIO BX5 and will UPGRADE TO BX8 with (8")?

Glenn, I would really like your help with some thing in the line of the studio. There are some industrial plots being advertised here in Botswana, in my village and i would like to propose the use of the studio to the Land Board. Land is free here as long as you have a unique idea for the use of the plot. They have advertisied 70 industrial plots for companies and individuals to apply. Because the this studio we are making is smaller, i would like to build try my luck and see if they can give me me the land to build more than one studio there. This will help me to make rates cheaper having one and will give various studio sizes with differnt studio uses from.

I would like the to propose to build,

2 Band Recording studios,
2 Big Voicing boths for recording Choirs and large groups
2 REhearsal rooms,
4 smaller studios
Graphix studio
Video studio
Ware house (store room to Store CDS)
Ofiices for people that will run and manage the studio

There is a 50/50 chance that i may get it and that I may not but i think it is worth the try because a recording studio shall be unique of this size and one i have the land it shall be easier to finance the project.

Let me know if you would be able to help develop a concept that includes all these so that i can submit it as part of the management plan of the building. i wil scan the mesurements of the plot i would like to propose for the studio.

Thanks

Moemer

i'll get you the update version 1 shortly.

as far as a big project like you're proposing, taking a really long shot in the dark, i'd say you need at least 9,000 sq ft (835m2). this could easily be $500K investment to build and outfit...

Hey Glen Thanks for the Reply,

I will give you the dimentions of the Plot, my aim is to aquire the plot by showing the land board what it is that you propose to do with the land. THere is a Second University that will start being built here and I am trying to also see if the Ministry of Education will be interested to use the studios if I manage to get the land. In terms of land size, the sizes vary from small to very large and I shall give you dimentions and a scanned picture of the ones that I would like to try my luck with. If you can make out standing designs, then the chances of getting them will increase. i am also trying to get supporting ducuments from finacers that would be interested in a project of this size. I Know that it would cost alot, The first set is to convice the Land Board that my Village soon to be town needs a studio of this size. I am also trying to get some letters of support from the Ministry of Youth and Sports Arts and Culture, SAMDEF, BOMU and other Bodies that would be interested in this project. I am also working on the management plan.

THanks Glenn, the Design, Version 1 is very very nice. and I am sure that once it is done it shall be mind blowing.

Hi Glenn and the Johnlsayers Fam

I have managed to try and have the studio roofed and would like to move into the next phase of the project which is the interior of the studio.

SO Glenn, Should I start on the first design that you made or is there an update of the design?

The other question is, how do i find the angle in sketch up? I have found the tape measure measures but I am failing to get the tool that give the angles. Please help.

I shall be going to look at the timber hardware store to see what i can get once we have the final design for the studio, or if the first one is a go.

Thanks for taking time to read the post.

The following images show the roofing, putting brandering, fibreglass and ceiling. we shall be painting the other section of the building tomorrow aswell as the ceiling in the control room and voicing booth.

looking good! best as i can tell, the roof angle is about 5 degrees. since you're going to add a false ceiling under the isolation ceiling for treatments it should be ok. attached is isometric frame and floor plan. I've sent you some pdfs today and will follow up this week with the rest.

Hi Glenn, John and THe FAm

Glenn this is the plots that I had told you about, they have been advertised in the local news papers and I have chosen plot number 15 to propose the studio that can accommodate the uses listed below.

THe success of the project will depend on the uniqueness of the proposed use of land and i believe that this will be a unique project. I would like to propose the uses listed below. Please let me know if you can help. The dead line for submission is the 10 October 2007 at 0900 local Botswana time. SO i was wondering if i could get the designs 2 days before. there fore on the 08 October 2007.

Whats I am requesting is for you to make a sketch which i could try and submit and see if they can approve and if they do, we can start working on the studios that have been listed below.

2 Band Recording studios,
2 Big Voicing boths for recording Choirs and large groups
2 REhearsal rooms,
4 smaller studios
Graphix studio
Video studio
Ware house (store room to Store CDS)
Ofiices for people that will run and manage the studio

I have attached the pictures of the plots advertised and the picture with the plot that i would like to to propose the use for studios in.

Please help.

Thanks i have seen the email that you have sent me and i will be working on the studio its week.

Thanks Glenn.

i took a shot at how things stack together... somewhat institutional looking but maybe cost effective that way? i put the main building complex behind the warehouse to keep it away from road traffic...

i was thinking one additional use for the live hall is concerts, theater, etc... as well as a nice live room...

WOW Glenn, it is More than what I had in Mind, it is really really nice. very very impressive. I did not expect this, was just expecting a floor plan but, wow, it is really really great what you came up with, I love it, It looks institutial, I dont mind, but what will make it young and funky is the finishes that we shall put into the building. Honestly, its amazing what you did Glenn, It is really impressive and I think that they shall consider the plot.

I love it love it love it. its really kool. Amaizing.

COuld you please email me the bigger JPEGS so that I can Print it out and if you have your name.

You could label it in the Corner,

STUDIO DRAWING FOR PLOT 15 PALAPYE BOTSWANA AFRICA
CLIENT : RUFF RIDDIMS BEATS PRODUCTION (PTY) LTD
DESIGN BY : GLENN

Some thing like that if you know what I mean, that would really stamp professionalism on the whole proposal, so that i can print them out on A3 and in Colour, if you have the Floor PLAN it would be seal the proposal.

THanks for the Effort and Please keep your fingers crossed for this project to be approve.

With the Studio, We have been busy working, painting the walls in the rest of the building and hope to be working on the studio soon and also we had a problem with some houses we have built, having leakages while clients where in the but we are sorting them out. So will soon be on track with the studio again. but will have pricture of the other sections of the building soon.

Hope to hear from you soon.

Hi every One, Sorry have been quite, trying to organize this and that for the final lap to finish the studio. I think this is the final 100m dash and so I think I might just be ready to finish it.

My camera is down so will have to organize one before I start working on finishing the studio. But hope to start within a week.

Thanks for all the knowledge you continue to share with the Rest of the World, John, Glenn, Keith, I hope you all grow to be as old as Mandela and still designing Massive studio. :-D :-)

See You soon ;-)

Hi every one, we have worked hard today and i hope that our hard work was right. We have managed to frame most of the booth and left with the framing of the sliding door. We will then secure all the frames to enusre that they are steady.

Hope to have more pics tomorrow.

I totally agree with Gulfo on this matter and at least to me, the 800 m2 he has proposed, seems even short for the quantity of rooms you want
