Little isolation, only acoustical dress up. Jup, just a nice little project

to start of: here's some pix of the room being preparted.
It's been painted, a heatradiator is installed and lights are being replaced.

The broadband panels are being made and installed using a French Clead.

It's semi-rigid rockwool, 44kg/m3, 5cm thick, 100cm high, 60cm wide. Build in a plywood frame and wrapped with fire-retardant cotton.

As the title describes, here are some pix of the panel construction.

The panels we're hung using the "French Cleat" technique.

I really like that idea of one long rail along the wall, so you can mount your panels anywhere you want them, and move them around as needed.

It IS a very handy feature indeed, a panel can be mounted exactly where you wan'm. Next: the corner traps. Check the Design threat for more on that subject for the moment

Extending your "smart" idea, you could even put maybe two or three such rails, at different heights, in case you need to move things up / down, or have panels stacked one above the other.... You can probably make it look cool, aesthetically too, with your creative artistic skills!

extending even further, how about a variable panel. A telescope or folding panel or sumpfin
Let's get creative indeed.

Mkaaay, corner absorbing devices! yeeeh.
Here's a couple o' pic of the 2 devices we build (see the design in the design thread). It's the cheapest way to build a superchunk IMHO. A few pieces of plywood, plastic, cloth and trims are all you need.

I just got word from Roeland (the owner of the room). He placed his kit in the room and gave it a try... He was very impressed by the sound of his kit in this room. It's tight, focused and it has no "whooomp" in the low-end anymore!

Mission accomplished I'd say

Looks pretty cool, and if it sounds good, then great! Good job! (And there you are, making me jealous again, with a finished room.... ).

Well this room sure isn't the greatest looking room, but atleast it sounds good. Our goal was only to acoustically dress it. The colorscheme wasn't my choice, gheh. (yeah, but ugly blue and gray with white panels... not the best choice)

It's just a basement with panels and a drumkit, easy project... NEXT!

One suggestion in order to get a perfectly stretched finish..
Stretch the fabric on the last framing you added at the end for looks. That way, you just nail it over, and nice stretched finish
