I am curently designing my studio over in the studio design section in the link here, viewtopic.php?f=1&t=11359 and have some questions about my attemp at flush mouting my monitors. I have been reading info on this site for a while now an decided that I'm going to go for it. I have pulled from John's design here viewtopic.php?f=1&t=66 and here viewtopic.php?f=1&t=5457 but I do understand that this is not exactly the same thing.

I am wondering can flush mounting be successfully done inside of a room that already has 2 layers of 5/8" drywall. The reason I am interested in doing so is only for the purposes of better sound isolation. I recall seeing this done before but I am not exactly sure where it was that i saw it. This is what led me to proceed in this manner. I also forgot to save it to my favorites for quick access.

I am planning on building my frames inside of my sealed room and anchoring the them to the floor and ceiling. However I am confused on what to do with the side walls of the soffit frame. The reason being is that I plan on using RC on the inside leaf of the control room and if I have to anchor the side walls of the soffit frames to the side walls of the control room this would negate the RC. If the RC has to go I am prepared to remove it from the plans and mount the frames for the soffit directly to the side walls of the control room but that raises the concern of flanking and sound transmission. I have viewed several threads with pictures and mock-ups on this topic but nothing seems to go in to any detail on doing it this way.

I have read, searched, searched, and read more but still can't find what I'm looking for. Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Questions :?:
Does anyone have any information on flush mounting speakers in this manner or know of anyone who has done so?

Can this even be done this way? If no why?

If this is can be done would I be correct in building these frames 1/4" short of the side walls of the control room and sealing the gap with acoustic caulk or would it be better to leave more space for an air port for the bass traps and just cover with cloth? (neither method are pictured in the design yet)

PLEASE HELP my brain is starting to overheat!!!! :?
