Yeah, I know the pain. Last time that happened to me, and almost got a heart attack from the bill, I've bought a book about electrics, looked up a "regulations" sheet, and did a whole layout of 2 rooms by myself. Then I hired a electrician, just to check, he was done in 15 minutes :).....it took me 3 days to do, but I managed, I even created an extra group that was perfectly installed according to him. Since that day, I have come to the conclusion that you can learn yourself everything, as long as you invest in it. Still electrics are a pain to get done and need to be handled with care...

Speaking of bills Deanna, do you mind if I ask roughly how much your custom cut wall plate cost?

1 x small plate

1 x large
3 mm stainless= $90 I think, I need to find the bill.
I designed the CAD and sent it through to him.

I need to contact Redco about a custom plate along with cable for my booth.. I'm almost scared to hear the costs.. those things get expensive quick.. need another patchbay as well to tie in the MS16 i just got also... spending money on cable, connectors... about as much fun as green glue and caulk.....

Wow that is a good price! Though you did the labour intensive part. If I can't get a similar deal locally I might bug you for their contact details.

Redco is has some great prices but, they were gonna charge me 250 just for a punched Control Room Plate. Instead I ordered a custom Dsub panel for 60 (I shouldn't say custom because it was punched vertically not horizontal, and they sent it in black not stainless like I asked) I ended up buying ready made pre punched panels and am going to build my own housing for them. Sorry for the Hijack Lil

Update-

Ok, i got the 2nd timber slidng door delivered....and of course it opens the wrong way and they put a b**dy latch and handle on it!!!!
Also the opening is smaller.

Drum room shell is done!
Will leave it as is for a while- till funds are topped up.
I really like the live-ness of it without rockwool. Has a real nice 2 sec verb. May end up lining it with timber slats.

Soffits slowly taking shape-

Couch riser finished- Carpeted, bass trap slats, LED lighting and trim done.

Should have the slat walls finished over weekend.
Have lowered the angle to 5 degrees for ease of construction.

Just need to paint ceiling...blah. I think a working bee is in order.

Control room is sounding quite good. There is a slight bass build up towards the rear of the room, which I'm hoping the rear corner traps and slat walls will help.

Will drag the G5 and fostex in for testing on weekend.
Need to choose slat and gap widths for slat walls.

pics..........

:D hhmmm, I stood in the fabric shop for ages!

You won't see much of it once the angled slat wall goes in.
But I'm hoping it will have a Indian/ middle east feel in the end,

I always figured there was a repressed hippie, deep inside John somewhere, trying really hard to get out, and there he is!!! :)
