Hi everybody,

Could anyone explain what the 'pink fluffy' insulation is. it seems to be really common outside of belgium but here...
Some more technical description would be welcome as this type of insulation is really often adviced for walls insulation.

Thnaks for you help!

Hi Stubah,

It's just ordinary fiberglass "wool" insulation, like this:

(Found that here: http://www.installedbuildingproducts.co ... allery.asp )

It usually comes in either rolls or batts, sometimes faced on one side.

If you can't find fiberglass, then maybe you can find mineral wool?

Color doesn't matter! As long as it is fiberglass and the density is somewhere around 30 kg/m3 you should be fine.

Hi,

In belgium we have these product which are 29 kg/m³ (which is OK).

http://www.isover.be/comfortpanel32_fr.html
http://www.isover.be/Isoconfort_32_fr.html

But the texture seems really different (more rigid) than the pink fluffy thing. Should I be concerned about this.
I was also worried that there is a film on these panels but the supplier told me that for the wall framing it is better to have insulation with a film in order to avoid the insulation to 'fall' into the framing after a couple of month. This argument seems to be a good one for me. But this film can create an extra layer in the MSM system?

Another supplier adviced me these products :

Glass wool : 16 kg/m³ (following the supplier the density is not that impoprtant in acoustics (i doubt about this...))

http://www.knauf.be/fr/produits/knaufisolation/knaufinsulationlainedeverre/cloisonsdeseparationetcloisonsdapplique/tp416/knauf_tp_416_1350x600x100_mm_24-info.htm

Rockwool : 35 kg m³ (this one seems definetely too rigid for me)

http://www.knauf.be/fr/produits/knaufisolation/knaufinsulationlainederoche/cloisons-de-separation-et-cloisons-d-applique/RS-35/rs_35_1200x600x140_mm-info.htm

What is your opinion about these facts and products?

Thanks for the help!
