Hi guys, I have a question in regards to the felt used to cover the inside wall of a studio to cover the insulation.(Building an inside out construction style) I was wondering would this work as a alternative. It is a black version of tyvek and is handy as it comes in 3 meter rolls. I think it would end up being more cost effective though my question is will it be as effective at letting the sound through to be absorbed by the insulation. I plan to put wood over the top of it with gaps in line with Johns slot resonator design. Thanks in advance for your comments.

This is the link to the tyvek product.

It doesn't need to be felt! That might be expensive. Any kind of cloth will work, as long as it "breathes" properly. One way to test is to hold a piece of the cloth over your mouth, and breath. Can you breath in and out freely, without feeling that the cloth is somehow resisting you? If you hold your hand in front of it, can you feel the air moving through it? If so, the it is fine, acoustically. If it does not breath well, then it won't be much use acoustically.

I wouldn't use this on an interior area and am pretty certain that what you are going to pay for this product will out weight getting the proper material for your job.
