Seems by my searching I can only find single sheet prices for gyprock. Approx. $30 for a single 1200mm x 2400 16 mm sheet. Is this as good as it gets? From memory I think it was the BGC stuff. Strange I cant find bulk lots of this stuff.

So aussie guys and girls, where have you got your gyprock and whats the best pricing you have come across? thanks.

Can't help you as am in the UK but converting Australian dollars to British pound that works out at just over £19/sheet  considering I get my 15mm plasterboard for around £6/sheet from a builders merchant in my town 30AUD seems ridiculous unless the cost of living is in the same scale.

Too right rogue jackal!! There is no way I'm paying 30 dollars per sheet! If I can't find a better price I'm just going tO have to use mdf and Plasterboard/gyprock for the final layer. Seeing I'm going to need to treat the outer skin of a frame structure as well, the cost quickly gets prohibitive. I'll wait and see of any Aussies Pipe up here with some better possible deals. 6 pounds per sheet?! Wow, if only!! I have seen nothing even approaching the equivalent of that price here for 16mm.

I used 18mm Plywood for my first layer as I had a load given to me and even though it is far more expensive then plasterboard in this country I will do the same for my live room build purely for the strength and better for fixing into.

It all depends on the volume you're ordering - $30 per sheet is a pretty typical rate for small orders & single sheets. Yes it's very strange that you can't find bulk prices - it's definitely cheaper if you buy a whole pallet. What state are you in?

I am in victoria. After extensive searching, I cant find a pallet rate, or even a pallet available on line full stop. Plasterboard at $30 a sheet would mean its by far the most expensive part of the build. I mean, for a space not even remotely close to what would be called big, your looking at $4K . Ridiculous when you consider in the US its about $6.00 a sheet. As usual we are arse abused with pricing in this country compared to elsewhere.

Looks like I would save quite a bit by using 16mm plywood. That stuff has to be at least as dense as plasterboard , probably more so I would say. I may have to go inside out walls....but so be it.

Plywood, OSB, MDF, cement fiber board, etc.... all are alternatives for drywall. Anything like that, that is dense will work. The normal recommendation is drywall simply because it is generally the cheapest, but if it is sooo expensive where you are, then go with something less expensive that will do the same job.
