My Basement studio room has been using the dehumidifier I've used for the entire basement for years. The problem is I need to control the rest of the basement still so I'm in search of another one.

I plan to use this one for outside the room and I'd like to get a better sounding one for my room. Obviously when I want I can just shut it off, but I wonder if anyone's had experience with a quiet running one.

Requirements -
Tank size isn't as much of an issue as that it has a drain, which I'd put into the basement system.
I'd like to keep the expense for this unit down. If the cost excedes say 300 usd, I think I'd be priced out of the "quiet" function for the price.

I realize that hvac would have dealt better with this, but the agreement for construction with the family at home was the reason it was done this way.

BTW - (warning: I'm about to gloat)
I LOVE this room still. OMG... A 2 month old INFANT sleeps in the room above while we were playing. Are you kidding me??? :) :) :)

Hey Cram,
My dehumidifiers are set at 70% and cycle when I am not in there. I just turn it off during sessions.
I found a decent sized one for $60 at Best Buy
peace
Tom

Nothing's gonna be quiet but this one is top rated for sound by consumer reports and has a large capacity so you can just turn it off if it bugs you. It will catch up when you're not there. $220 with free shipping.

Guys,

Thanks for the replies. I'm out to shop for one today and after I've done some research I think that Tom is right about this. I believe I'll get a small one to handle my room and have the current one to run outside the room in the basement.

And HEY, while I'm at BestBuy... I can checkout a Vox amplifier! Or atleast I'vebeen told that I can in certain stores...

Thanks again. T'is a wet, wet, wet summer.
