This must not be your first time running a nail gun. The door, step by step photos, shows how easy it can be to build these type of things.

Thanks for that!

since buying my home a couple years ago, i've actually found a hidden 'talent' within myself. i knew i was good with my hands, but i've never attempted to actually build anything.

i had barely used a nail gun before i bought mine for the studio build.
they're kinda fun, and easy. haha.

it's all about thinkin it out first, and that's still the hardest part for me.
i just wanna start cutting and nailing and glueing and i end up wishing i did it differently afterwards. so far i'm happy with how everything is coming.

my biggest regret so far is the time i wasted on the soffits. i could have done it waaayyyy easier. oh well, lesson learned. they still ended up okay.

thanks for looking.

this is a very exciting day today.
i have officially FINISHED CONSTRUCTION.

i did all the trim in all rooms, painted back corner and door black to match fabric, put screen and heater cover in back wall, and probably more stuff i forgot that i did.

i still have a few little things besides bringin in my gear. . .
like mount my lcd in the vocal booth and clean up a little more.

i finally hooked up my speakers and the room SOUNDS UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i'm sooooo excited. it makes my monitors sound like completely different speakers than the ones i used for years in my parents basement, yet they're the same exact pair! the room really makes such a huge difference.

people need to stop racing to by the latest gear and spend that money on treating their room properly. it's one of those things i've heard for years, but until i "heard" it first hand i never knew how serious it was.

here's a pic of my computer being totally ripped apart to install a Verax silencing kit, and swap out some hard drives. i'm going from my ancient 'sawtooth' G4 400Mhz to a kindof old Mirror Door Drive 1.25Mhz.

also a pic of the monitors flush mounted and the room as it stands during the computer swap and Pro Tools reinstall.

I'm right at the end of all this, I haven't felt like this since last year when my 2nd son was born. The anticipation is crazy!!!!!!!

i can't wait to record some tracks!!!

Congratulations!!! What a great job! You have really done some fantastic work, and as has been mentioned, you really have a talent for this stuff!!!

I am very glad to hear that all the hard work paid off in the acoustics department. Like you said, it is the single biggest upgrade you can make to your studio, but it is one that is often overlooked in favor of more gear!

Once again... great job, and congratulations!!! :)

I like those walls! All that wood, man, that's great looking. If there where just a way to bottle up that anticipation. Just a whiff or two when the going gets trying;)

It is cool, to me, how the many projects here all look so distinctly different. Even when they have much of the same parts!

man, i'm currently updating (at least trying) to pro tools 6.4.1 from 5.1.3

i'm on a hunt for some used plugins for this system.
anybody that wants to help PM me.

i'm out of money so we'll see what i end up with.
i still have PT 5 on a partition to use the waves bundle and mcdsp bundle i have for that version. . . PT 6 is pretty ancient let alone using 5, geez.

well, at least it still sounds great while i'm listening and getting used to the room during computer havoc.

Don't know if I missed it, but what are the dimensions of the room?

wow, i def should have posted that somewhere. it's in the sketchup file, but that's annoying just to find out dimensions.

well, the main room as it stands is about 22' X 10.5'. the helmholtz resonator's take it in- between 6" to 1' depending on where it is.

the vocal booth is around a standard 3 x 5 x 7. thats WxLxH

Same dimensions (in total) as mine. I'm at 10.5 x 11 (control) 10.5 x 12.5)

I'm really going over the costs for materials to do those sofits. Mike - check out my latest posts, and tell me if you think it's doable with my door placement.

BTW - I got your VM and will call you once I put the kids down tonight (if that's ok with you).

yeah Brad thats fine. if it doesn't work tonight, another night. i'm here. haha.

well, as it turns out. . . since i shut down Dynamike Studios a few years ago there is a Dj using DJ Dynamike in my area. He's been playin out a ton. i think his name may have surpassed mine. That being said, it confirmed my uncertainty about using U-N-I. I have to go back. It's better that way. Everyone around here knows me from my stage name Jive the Universal aka: Jive the U-N-I.

whatev. just a name.

how come TDM plugins are so friggin expensive???? man.
