1.) Did they "kick" during your session?

Oh Yeah!

Quote:
2.) Were they loud enough? Crisp enough?

They were. I just need to finish some acoustics in the CR though.

Quote:
3.) Are you satisfied with your sub placement?

I really haven't tuned in the room yet. I don't have windows or doors in yet.

Quote:
4.) Did you use the Room Mode Correction feature to "tune" your
speakers?

I have the first generation of JBL's. LSR28. They do not have the RMC.

Congrats on the progress.

Thank you. I'm just glad to finally be squirting electrons around the place.

And making a few $$$ while I'm at it. Like I said, I still have a long ways to go, but as long as clients don't mind a little dust, I can now at least be productive in some recording. Problem I have now though, is I need to buy a few core pieces of gear, mics, etc. which slows me down from spending the money on materials to finish the studio. One of those catch 22's. But I have at least a couple more clients looking to get in. Have a possible session already booked for the end of April. And probably a couple between now and then. So things are lookin' good.

Sorry for the lack of updates the past few weeks. Been really busy between the day job, working on the studio, and tracking in the studio.

Last weekend (Saturday) I started the acoustics frameout on the back wall of the control room. (don't have pix yet).

Spent the rest of the weekend tracking vocals. All is going well there with the exception of one musician w/ sticky fingers.

Other than that, it's all coming together.

I'll try and post more later.

Aaron

Greetings Everyone!

I know it's been a few weeks since I've posted anything. It's been a crazy year so far. Between the day gig, and the studio, I hadn't had much time to get online.

Well, here's some updates. The two major things I've been working on have been the rear wall in the control room, and due to the previous incident, I've decided to finally get the studio bathroom back into working shape. So I've been doing some really crappy work...pun intended!

The first pictures here will show some of the treatment started on the rear wall. The next set will show where I've dug up my concrete w/ a jackhammer and concrete saw. Yeah, it was the worse case scenario unfortunately. I had a camera run down the sewer line and found multiple issues.

I still need to add some 703 and build the broadband absorber yet, but I'll get to that when I pick up all the wood for the trim out...

Aside from the inside slab, I had to cut out 2 major sections of my concrete outside as well...

Now, I've got the new stuff going back in. I installed 2 new traps, not just one. I've actually finished beyond the T in the last picture, but don't have the pix w/ me today.

Nice pics Aaron.

You're working on a job I fear the most about my 40 year old house... digging up pipes under the concrete, mine run under bedrooms.

What year was your house built?

Did who ever not leave an accessible clean out somewhere?

For what's it's worth... my neighbor (AC contractor) is just about done redoing a bathroom. He put in new pipes including a "T" in one spot, he rebuilt what pipe was there before. Then he hired a plumber to finish it out. Plumber removed his work and replaced the "T" with a "Y". I think it was something to do with code.... I don't know exactly why but can only guess the "Y" will give better flow and less chance of blockage at a pipe connection.

Might be worth it (if you already haven't) to get a plumber to look over your work before you bury it.

And thanks, you've given me DIY inspiration to try the job myself if I ever need to.

That respirator sure portrays an image  Is that a one piece thing or what is on you head under the respirator?

AND the start of the absorber looks good.

Marc

I think it is hearing protection.

The house was built in 1955.

There was no cleanout at all. Had to pull the toilet to fish the line for brown trout.

I installed one of these at the end (not in pix above) where the toilet and shower meet. The other T there above will go to the sink and the vent that goes to the roof.

It's a respirator, ear muffs and safety glasses.

Yeah, I haven't been able to use that bathroom for 2 years or so now. Hadn't really been that big of an issue until now. But if I'm going to have clients in the studio, I need to keep them in the studio and out of the house. Especially after a few weeks ago.
