More pix...starting the framing of the soffit wall. The wall is completely free standing and self supporting and only mounted to the floor. Does not touch any of the RC walls.

There's more, but some of the pix on the roll of film didn't develop. Bummer. I'll take more and post after the holidays.

Enjoy...

Actually, believe it or not, it's not construction related.

It's from that damn cat bite I got 5 weeks ago. Had to have surgery to clean out the infection. While the doc was in there, he found the infection had eaten the tendon and had to sew it back together.

So the moral of the story is, Don't try and pick up a stray cat.

It gives a whole new meaning of BAD P***Y.

 :(

So, Aaron... How's that hand of yours? Is it healed up? Are you constructing again? Are you taking pictures again?

I'm probably not the only one around here who's eager to see how your project comes out! (Just what you needed -- more pressure than what you're placing upon yourself!) ;-)

I've just started doing some minor things last weekend and this weekend. I had some help last weekend and got the first layer up on the back wall of the control room (which I'm doing a little differently - 3/4" ply, 5/8" drywall, 5/8" drywall on RC1). The plywood is so I have a mounting point of the diffusor I plan to place on the back wall. And finished the first layer in the Entry Sound Lock.

This weekend, I have managed to get the back half of the CR ceiling just about ready to go once I finish the 2 layers of drywall on the back wall (just need some $$$). I finished the conduit stub from the electrical box to the rear surround locations.

And I started placing 703 in the Iso Room.

More pix...not yet. Need to go get another disposable camera.

Still trying to figure out the finishing of the front soffit wall. Such as how to mount the stands or which method I'm going to use. As well as height, the sizes of the box cavities for future upgrades or deciding which monitors I'm actually going to use for soffits.

I have about 4 pages of things written down at home for finishing out the CR, Iso Room, sound locks, and machine room. And that's only some of the details.

:D

Hey Steve...

Got a quickie here...back to bass hangers...

I've already cut some 1/2" & 3/4" MDF to use as the core of the bass hangers. Now, what should I use? Some vinyl flooring cut into strips and attached at the top, or maybe attach 703 to the MDF and hang them? Or should I use the Pink Panther stuff to wrap these things up? What's the white stuff everyone seems to be wrapping them with? Is it some type of quilt matting? or what?

Thanks again...

:D

The vinyl strips thought was my modification of one of Newell's ideas, don't remember if it was RSD or one of the others (I have 3-4 of his books) - the idea was originally to use loosely hung "dead sheet", which I think refers to LMV (sheet blok, etc), in addition to the fiberglass wrap.

Not sure what the white stuff is, I'd just wrap 'em in pink stuff (paper side in, or un-faced) and duct tape every 2 feet -

Personally, I'm liking the idea of Newell's "black hole" trap, shown on page 173 of "Project Studios - a more professional approach" - this thing has more different "layers" than a chocoholic's dream cake, each one progressively harder for sound to pass, and the total thing about 3-4 feet deep...

Guess you'd need to plan ahead for that much real estate though...

So would you suggest using something like floor vinyl that is hard, or something like a soft vinyl (like car seats or tops)?

If I remember, you mentioned R11, but all that HD has in stock is the next size up (R13) or something.

Anyway, I've started putting the cloth over the 703 in the iso booth. That's the latest update.

:D
