Hi guys!

I'm Building a control room/ listening room from scratch and i have a question
For acustical treatment (no isolation necessary), is a good idea to cover the actual cement floor with low-mid (50-500hz) tuned helmholtz slot resonators?
in a way that at the end of the job i see only slot resonators on the floor and i can walk on these resonators,
don't think i'm crazy!
In your opinion,they will work?

what is the best wayto make the floor absorbent?

sorry 4 my bad english!

Ciao
From the acoustical side it will work like every other surface in the room.
You can use the wood we use for making the floor of a balcony.
But how do you want to clean the cavity under the slats?
why don`t you use the other surfaces in the room like the celling and the walls?

cheers
Mika

ciao mika! :D
thanks 4 the reply

since my room is 5x4 then i need a lot of absorption, but i want to leave the ceiling "reflective", only a big absorber above the mix-desk, in this case the floor must be absorbent (absorbent floor, semi-reflective ceiling)

i will put broadband traps on the side walls..

it's right?

What do you mean, when you talk about a reflective celling?
You gave us the imformation about tuneing the slatresonator 50hz to 500hz what says it is reflective above 500Hz. Why don`t do this at the celling?

I think it is the best to have a normal woodfloor (refelctive in the full freq. range) and design the celling absorbant over the widest freq. range as possible. It depends on the roomhight which you can aford, but i think you will be fine with a 30cm thick cloud with a little gap.
Behind the firstrefektionpoints you can work with diffusion to keep the room alive, but in a room your size you have to deal with alot of bassenergy so use wall and celling for absorbation.

I don`t think it`s practical to use the floor for absorbation.
Look at a few studiodesigns , and you will see that you don`t need to treat your floor.

cheers
Mika

Mika is right: Make your floor reflective, and your ceiling absorbent. A reflective ceiling is usually not a good idea.

Also, build large bass traps in the corners (they will probably do what you wanted the "50 - 500 Hz" resonators to do), then measure the actual response of the room, and plan your final treatment based on that. How do you know that you need to treat the entire "50 - 500 Hz" range? Did you already measure the room?

No Soundman not measured yet, i made a "write" error, the range was "preventive" 150-500Hz
like john's plan: http://www.johnlsayers.com/HR/index1.htm

ok mans, i follow your advices!
normal floor
absorbent ceiling
fiberglass broadband corners

then i measure the room and plan treatment based on measures...

sorry 4 my bad english!

very very thanks

you can work with diffusion behind your sweetspot, so you keep liveend in your room

You can plan to use all your corners for basstraps, and also plan deep absorbers for your backwall. i would prefer 30cm thick panels minimum.
After that, you can start with measurements and tuned traps.

Where are you located in italy?
maybe i can visit you the next time i travel to italy!?
I vistit the area around Verona, Milano and Venezia alot for buissnes reasons.

cheers
