In the below picture there is a 'mic thing'...


I'm still having quite allot of trouble with bass in my tiny little room.
My room is small.
height = 6ft 4
W= 7ft
L = 9ft

I was thinking of building a panel like the mic thing, a larger one to cover more than one mic. I can hang it from the ceiling and move it around on hooks.

What is the best option.
Acoustic egg crate foam? or acoustic insulation

I'm thinking of putting it on a curved piece of thin mdf.
shall I cover it with plastic as I don't want the highs all to go ...
how thick etc.

I have some insulation leftover here, but it's only 30kg/m3 but should be ok

I'm thinking if I've just about treated the room as much as I can possible do ans still have problems, maybe this panel behind the microphones will help quite a bit....
I'm guessing if I treat it like a bass trap/broadband absorber but portable and curved ( if I can) i should be on the right track.
I could make one that folds in 2 or 3 also I guess... or even make 1 or 2 and spread them around

It's for recording solo acoustic guitar btw... some reflection is important ( If I'm using my terminology correct).
But then again if the room was quite dry sounding and the bass was not a problem I could add reverb digitally ?

Great forum by the way! I gave a little donation the other day ( i felt i was getting freebies off the experts ), if everyone gave a little it be great for the forum owners,

I don't see that having much effect at all on bass problems with the room itself. That might help if your room is a bit too bright, or has other high-frequency issues, but not with lows.

I'm just building a trap for back ceiling/wall as we speak.

that about all i can fit in now, except maybe a small cloud.

I just thought adding a few panels behind the microphone might help hide problems with the room that come through on the microphone.
