Hi Guys,

This is my first post. I have a question about broadband absorber panels. I've seen those fantastic DIY stickies about guys making their own panels and was wondering whether the dimensions are interchangeable.

The width versus the height. Am I able to change those dimensions. I read it somewhere, but couldn't find that page again where I believe it was John who said you can create a wall of different panel absorbers with different sizes. 1m x 1m and different depths to try and cover as much of the spectrum as possible.

I'm wanting to dip my toe in a little room treatment for my mixing environment. Full treatment is quite overwhelming, so I thought perhaps trying to build a few broadband panel absorbers would be a good place to start. Perhaps get a first taste of improved accoustics which no doubt I would become and addict after the first 'fix'.

The reason I'm asking about changing the dimensions is I'd like to add some nice asthetics to the panel absorbers. My company has a large format inkjet printer and I'm trying to source some printable canvas so that I can add full colour imagery and even branding to the panels. (i really love working in an asthetic environment : )

The inkjet printer can print a maximum 610mm wide roll by 2-3 metres. So I can't do 1m x 1m squares. Just wondering whether those dimensions would be interchangeable to say 500mm x 500mm and say make four times as many panels?

P.S. Sorry if I have broken any of the sticky rules...

regards,

OK, I just realised I probably need to ask another question which is most likely more important.

Is canvas OK for wrapping the broadband panel absorber in? Is it too reflective or closed weave?

Dwane - the deeper the absorber the lower the absorption frequency - canvas is fine as a cloth.

Hi John,

Thanks for your response!

So with Studios_Drums $25 broadband panel absorber, do i need to add more insulation (thicker) to get lower absorbtion or deeper wooden frames at the back of the panel absorber to create more gap in order to target lower frequencies? (by target I'm not talking about exactly nailing a particular frequency. I understand that the Slot Resonators are tuned for an exact frequency)

That's great news about the canvas being suitable!
