Hello,
I'm looking for some feedback and guidance on the design below. This is intended to be a combination tracking/mixing/theater room. It's located in the basement of my house in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Lots and lots of things to work around. There's a beam in the front of the room, a beam 2/3rds the way back. Two poles supporting the beam. 7' 6" ceilings. 3 Sil type basement windows on the left. Overall "hard" dimensions of the room are 246" deep, 292" wide. I know the dimensions are not good but I'm trying to maximize the room size yet still have a room that's decent to listen and mix in by maintaining symetry. I really don't need that much isolation as I live a long way from anything but I want a fair amount just so the music can be loud and not bother upstairs activities too much.

Construction is as follows(refer to drawing):
1. Double wall construction in front of room, two layers of 5/8 sheetrock, slot resonator in the middle along with a wide screen TV.
2. Soffit mounted Genelecs with built in rack space on each side in the front of the room
3. Slot resonator wall on the left, angled walls are at 12 degree's. Height of left slanted wall only goes up to bottom of sil windows creating a little shelf along its length.
4. Double sliding glass doors with slot resonators(not much wall space to fit any in) on the right slanted wall
5. Entire rear of the room is a giant base trap with hanging rockwool and finished off by accoustic cloth
6. Ceiling will be fitted with two layers of 5/8 sheetrock up between joists, sealed, etc. then I'm not sure what else I'll do due to the low ceiling height.
7. Carpet on the entire floor space.

So my questions so far are:
1. Did I design any of this right? Will this layout produce a decent sounding room?
2. What do I base my slot calculations on?
3. What can I do to improve the design?

Other than the basement foundation walls on the left and the rear of the room, nothing else has been constructed so I have the freedom to change almost anything. Budget is $10K for construction

Thanks in advance

Hello All,

Still looking for a response. Would like to start construction soon. Did I forget any key information required to get a response?

Thanks.
