I don't mean his actual layout/design, just the way he built his walls and cieling. Inside out walls I believe...
Yup, that will work fine if you do it right. In fact, this forum is pretty much the home of the "inside-out wall".... As far as I know, it was John himself who invented the concept... :)

Thank you very much Stuart!!!

I just pm'd John for an actual quote for a design/plan. Not sure if he'll see it but after all the confusiuon on my part I decided to stop making myself look stupid and just have it drawn up by the pro. I think I was annoying some folks here and on another forum and it left me feeling dumb. :(

Since this morning I found some hidden unwanted treasures in my floor joists where I was planning to build. So I was forced to change location of my studio. Its still in my basement but instead of building along the west wall I am now building along the north wall. Also by doing that there are no hidden unwanted treasures in the floor joist there and I gained space. My measurements are now,

26' 6" long
10' wide
8' high (I lost about 1 foot here though) :(

But the ratio is slightly better huh? And now I have cement on 3 walls! And a hardwood floor (If I get to keep it that is because it only cover half of that space)

I had my contractor friend over and I don't need any permits. Which is cool!

I will be treating the cement with a sealant this weekend, and when I speak to John I may be starting my build by next weekend!

Just a question about the floor joists on the floor above,

1) Should I seal them with caulking like I would for a wall?

Thanks again Stuart,

Peace!

Do you have any pictures of this area in question?

May as well get ready, if John is going to get involved, he's going to want them as well.

unfortunately I'm fully tied up with projects so I can't afford the time to help Ronnie out. Perhaps Ronnie can employ Stuart to help out.

@John - Thank you John, I figured you'd be way to busy. And thanks for recommending Stuart!

@xspace - Thanks for the kind PM, and of course you willingness to help us under-educated panicbots! lol

@Stuart - I sent you a pm, thanks for agreeing to maybe work with me.

OK, first off I will be tearing down some exsisting walls and drop cielings in the space I plan to use. I will hit that Sunday & Monday and have pics up by Monday evening.

I slowed myself down mentally and took a closer look at my space and found 1 minor problem. And I took all the measurments myself today. The measurments I posted yesterday are a bit wrong and I don't know how I cam up with that. Sometimes wine and measuring is not good. lol, I have bad eyes also and read the tape wrong.

I set up some spotlights to see better and tripple checked my measurements.

Here's what I have

The south wall is moveable if needed but only by two feet because of a verticle support beam. And also because there is a window on the west wall it may not be doable. Unless there are tricks to seal windows? I don't need that window at all.

Here is a sketchup print screen pic, ( the .skp file is too large)

I'll be back 8)

Yep, there are! :) But let's not go there yet... What we need next is those ...

Photos! :)

... that would help a lot to understand the room better.

7 months later and I am now ready to attack my build. Life has a way of getting in the way and it basically put my build on hold. But now I think its time to get the ball moving again! I did however finish the isolation stage and will soon start the inner walls after I lay out the HVAC ducts & electrical conduits. Stuart was the mastermind who held my hand through the isolation stage and he will hopefully be on board for the rest of the project(If he has the time). But for now I am reading as much info as I can to have an idea of what comes next. I will throw up some pics later to show what Stuart and I have done. I'll try to put as much detail as I can so that the reader will have a good idea of what it took to get this far...

Peace!

Good to see you back! I just saw your e-mail too, so it seems like you changed everything! :) No problem: we can re-arrange the design to fit the reduced space. I'll get back to you a bit later: got a lot going on right now!
