Hello All :inn:

I must say I am frustrated with my recordings it is time to get real and get some awesome advice to sound proof my walk in closet I intend use it to record my amp and vocal etc...

I hear that deading the room is better for recording?

Here are my dimensions 7'x4'x8' walk in closet its pretty plane there is a shelf and and a pole to hang clothes but everything else I can take out of the room. In terms of volume I live on 5 acres with no neighbors so I can get pretty loud and crazy

I have heard I can make my own bass traps any links would be most useful.

My budget I would like to not spend over $200 but hey I am willing to over spend a little however getting into the $800 is a bit steep for me at this time.

Any help is most appreciated thank! :yahoo:

if isolation isn't a concern why make a dead closet? are you close mic'ing the cabinet anyways? if you need isolation from your recording/mixing room, then that may be a reason to do it. first thing would be to replace the door and or seal it really well.

otherwise you might find just hanging heavy blankets in the closet on the existing poles to dampen it and just close mic.

Hey Glenn,

Yes I use two mics one usually on the cabinet and another one a little farther back. I really like that blanket suggestion. Replacing the door I can look into that it does have a bit of gap on the bottom and right side. What about making some bass traps? or do you think the room is small enough that I don't really have to worry about that just try the blanket and seal the door?

Thanks!
