There are several "is this for real?" and "yes, it's for real" posts on StudioTips.

My shipment of the green stuff arrived yesterday. I will be using it for the beef up layers as well as the last layer of drywall on the ceiling and key walls. It is painfully expensive, but I did quite a bit of research and decided It seemed worthwhile. After all, like Keith had told me, once it's all sealed up you can't go back in and add anything.

I'll let you know how I get on. Hope to begin "beefing-up" this weekend.

Andy

Awesome! You'll enjoy working with it. There's something really oddly satisfying about applying goo to your drywall that costs many times that of the drywall itself!

Yeah, well, the alternative is crying uncontrollably while you watch all that money ooze out of the tubes... And trust me -- that's not fun at all!

Well, I've gotten a few more things done. I'll post pix later. I built the ramp in the soundlock going up to the control room floor on Saturday.

Sunday, I went and picked up the reverb plate!!!!! Awesome! Just need to build a new frame for it. The current one is in bad shape (and full of Brown Recluse spiders) Also picked up a bunch of free 3/4" oak hardwood flooring...

Getting some more insulation done. I ended up buying some of the thermafiber mineral wool. It was much cheaper than the other brand since I can't roxul here anymore...

For the time being, since I'm only doing 2 mix, and don't have the speakers for 5.1, I've decided to temporarily cover up the holes for the center and rear speakers. Also, started the frame to hold the 703 on the rear soffit sections...

Awesome!!! 8) Even the bags of Thermafiber SAFB has me drooling!

Isn't that sad that we get excited about bags of insulation?

What's your plan for provision access to the water valve in this photo?

I'll make an access panel/door that is insulated and sealed (seals) all the way around.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I get excited w/ each little step I accomplish with this build out. And the sad thing is, only people like us here on the forum get really excited about all this stuff. Once the clients start to come in, they have no idea how much work, money and time goes into building a studio. They just see the finished product, and most of the time, they don't really even care about that. They just want their recordings. As long as it sounds good w/ the final mix, that's all they want.
