And here's a pic of the wire. Doesn't look like a whole lot, but it sure made a dent in the wallet... :?

Today's update...

Last night I started the second layer finally on the walls in tracking room 2. The room is half done. Did some more mudding in the entry room and corner bead.

That's it at the moment.

Not much going on lately, but I've ordered some parts for the gear. Plan to re-lamp the 2" VU's tonight and maybe rechip the one channel strip on the console that isn't passing signal.

I might get a chance this weekend to also finish up the 2nd layer (the other 2 walls) in the 2nd tracking room. We'll see what I can get done.

Have a good weekend everyone.

:D

IT HAS BEEN A VERY PRODUCTIVE WEEKEND!!!!! :D :D :D

With the exception of where I need to run some duct board, nearly all walls are complete in the studio... as far as the shell.

I finished up the second layer in tracking room 2 on Friday. Saturday, I insulated and drywalled the soundlock area between the entry and tracking rooms AND put the 3rd layer up (plywood) in tracking room 2.

I have pix...I'll post them later today...

It's lookin' good!!!

I still need to add a few screws into the plywood in area's, and caulk all the way around yet. Need to caulk, tape and mud the drywall sections in the soundlock area.

Then I guess it's time for Duct work and the framing around it. That's the next logical step for the tracking rooms. Then the ceiling.

Of course I still have a few things in between all that, but that will be the next major step that is needed.

I should be able to finish the entry area with sanding and another coat of mud. Finish it and primer it. And that room will be ready for flooring.

I had to pick up another 30 feet of 16 pair mogami on Friday. Will probably run those wires this week through the conduits.

That's it for the moment...

:D

Attaboy, Aaron! That's working like a non-injured-back person!

It is safe to say that you've fully recovered from your accident? If not, those pics sure make it seem like you have! 8)

So, tell us your reasoning behind using plywood on your walls... (I think I already know, but humor me. 8))

There's a couple. One, for attaching acoustic treatments to. Two, I plan to use some type of wood finish in the main tracking room, so I need something to tack it to. Three...You'll have to wait until it's done to see it. It'll be a surprise.

On another note...looks like I'm having a session in the next few weeks. I spent all weekend wiring Elco/Edac connectors to plug into the console. Unfortanately they're going cheap and doing digital instead of using the 2" machine. And w/ the recent announcement of Quantegy discontinuing they're tape, the stuff jumped up $100 a roll.

I'll post pictures of the Edac connector assembly. I forgot my camera this morning, so I won't get them posted today.

I plan to pull the 24 pair this week for the mic lines in tracking rooms 1 & 2. Maybe even for the iso room & entry room.

OK, here's my specialty area...finally get to do some tech work...

Here's a step by step on the Elco/Edac's I put together this weekend...

The first couple steps are doing the cable prep w/ stripping back the cable about 4" then putting on shrink tubing onto the shield, etc...

Next we have the cable being finished up w/ the prep work, tinning the wires, sliding on the shrink wrap that will be shrunk after the connector is put on, etc...
