Hi John

No problem, I got a call from the Bank yesterday and they are coming to my village to see the current structure, i am putting every thing that we have worked on together so that I show them the progress. I think that they will give the loan. it not alot, I think it will be enough to set up and get some few new things and start operating, and will expand once i get a new plot to build the dream studio in.

Thanks John

Hi everyone, I john

I hope that all is well.

I am waiting on the bank to hear what they will be saying about the project. They must be calling mi, They came to see the building and where real impressed at the fact that I was using technology (internet) to get information to build a studio in a village. They then called me for an interview and they should be calling me in about a week or or if they shall be funding the project as the boad needs to decide on the project.

I hope that the design for the studio is going alright and that when they approve, i ill be able to start working.

THanks John

Hi Moemedi,

I was at Walt Disney World last week, during which I met several "cast members" (employees) who were natives of your country. Of course I had to tell at least one of them about your project. 8)

It's been a while since we have heard from you. I hope you have good news to share about your financing... Although I have a feeling that if you had good news, you would have shared it already.

Hey Keith Compliments of the new year to you all and the John Lsaysers.com Massive.

I am very depressed, these people are taking longer than I had thought they would with the funding, actually too long. I was very very stressed out and dont know where I stand with the bank. they keep sending mi up and down, up and down and I am very tired and hope that they shall have an answer for me soon.

I hope that If they agreee, Things shall move faster and that I will be able to be up and running in a shorter time than THan the loan.

You meet people from Botswana Keith, that sounds great. maybe you meet the Minister of Health, I know she was at Disney, they are close family friends.

I am glad someone around the world can say, " Hey, I know Moemedi FRom Botswana, he is busy working on a Studio in Botswana" that sounds kool.

THe good news is that the Government has just set up a new ministry of YOuth, Sports and Culture and it shall also assist yong people who are interested in going into music, and other arts. So I hope to try and get the minister come and offically open the studio when it is done , if the give me the money to make it happen.

Thanks , I will keep in touch, I have been comeing to the site as a visitor, checking out the progress with other people's studio and I love the Red Bull studio, it massive.

Later

HelLo John and the MAssive.

It has been a long time and all this time i have been trying to fight with the banks to lend me money to finish the studio off, but unfortunately they have turned me down becoz they think the project is not viable. SO i have been trying think of ways to get money to finsh this project off.

I would love to finsh it and believe that I way just have a way in the next few weeks to finish it off so I still your helpand massive to complete a world class studio in Rural Africa.

Please John, Could you help me finish off the design so that I can gather quotations as I am think about traveling to Zimbabwe to get most of the wood as I think it will be cheaper there than buying in Botswana. THe really expensive things are the block board or chip board here because we dont make any of that here in Botswana so I am talking to my friends to see if we can go there and buy the Boards, to be used in the roof, the floor, and what ever i can get cheap.

SO John what i am trying to ask for is what I will need to finish the studio and then when I go to Zimbabwe, I buy it all at once. every thing and then transport everything buy train.

I may have to remind you about all the things we discussed, even the plan that we agreed on.

Please help me finih the project, for me its been two years now.

Thanks for taking time to read this post.

Hello every one at Johnlsayers.com, John, Keith and the massive at large.

I have started work on the studio again, its been about a year now. I have managed to organise some material and have started roofing according to the Specs that John had said that I should roof the building. We shall be putting the Chip board, the insulation and the corrigated iron sheets tomorrow.

John please help with the studio design. Will the studio have a false floor? i am ready to try and finish it off.

Please help John with the design of the studio, i have attached some pictures from the current work.

I shall supply all measurements tomorrow once we are doen with the roof.

Thank you and hope to hear from you soon.

Hi to every one, :D Hey Gullfo, I really love the design, wow, its mind blowing and really kool, i can see it in the mind, really nice nice work. will the drawing have exact measurements, or is it all done to scale, i am not sure, about the measurements. But i really love the design.

Question, because i the earlier stages of work, i had asked about power and how i would supply it inot the control roof if holes for lighting cannnot be made in the ceiling board? WOuld i have to make the electrical pipes run under the fool or behind the wooden pannels?

We have managed to put the chip board on top of the building, in the roof and have also put in the fibgre glass insulation and the corrugated iron shits on top, below are pictures that show the process, we shall start building and working on the booth roof from the 01 september, tomorrow.

SO i shall soon be posting more pictures.

the design is pretty much to scale based on your measurements and a couple of guesses on my part... since the room is sloping, i didn't make the framing parts angled but for construction purposes you would do that, or build in a false ceiling (since you have the height) to add additional trapping and it would give you more options for lighting (recessed vs track) etc...

for lighting, my recommendation is you plan on using something like track lights on the ceiling to avoid putting holes in the roof. electrical and cables can all be routed behind the treatment walls and boxes attached to the treatment walls themselves.

another thought that comes to my mind is the CR proper vs the seating area - the separating resonators walls (possibly) could be made to house speakers to make the CR and listening place each have a 5.1 mix - would take a bit more planning but its possible.

Hey Glenn

Thank you very much for you reply,

What i wante to know about the measurements is for thing like resonators, measuremenst from the wall and the angels, how do i culculate those or are there mesurements should i just try and build as I have doen but try and make sure that everything is consistant in terms of measurements.

I am not sure if I am making sense. I can see the drawing, but dont understand if i should use my own jusgment while making the actual framing, angles, distance from the wall and so on? or will those come?

I would also like to ask, how will the floor be like in the studio? half seems to be raised, that means that we will have to build a frame and fill it with instulation.? How about the lower section off the studio, do we put carepeting or we leave it as ceremic tiling both in the booth and the control room?

please let me know, i undert stand that for the slope, i will have to do my own judgement, is it the same in the rest of the building?

We have been busy trying to finish the bring work for the other section of the building so it is roofed. and I hope to have some pictures soon. Most of the time i have been running some thing here and there so i have missed some stages in construction.

i hope that the roofing shall be finished soon so that We can start the inside next week.

thanks

here's an updated version. basically the slats are designed for broad ranges - typically low-mid and the ceiling slats and backwall slats are more decorative and diffusive. angles and measurements can be derived right from the model... i have to admit to a minor error in this one if you are looking for a 5.1 mix - the center speaker needs to come out a bit and consequently so would the 2 front soffits - about 30 cm or so...

Hey Glenn

The first one i really like, it looked more kooler and had an edge to it that is stricking. The other thing is that for this studio I would like to just record artists in this studio and the mixing of audio for surround sound i shall not do for now.

The video work I plan to do shall be done in the Office in the other section of the building. So I would like to keep to the first design because i just need the speakers in stereo. For now i shall be editing video in the Office and shall leave the audio recording to the studio that you have designed.

i Really love the first design you did and it just looks out of this world. the studio monitors i am using right now are not big ones, but trying to Upgrade to M-Audio BX8, which i think will be large enough for the room. is it okay to change monitors once I have built and the studio is running? So I would like us to keep with the first design that you made, that one is KING, it will just be for audio and not for video or surround sound.

I shall will try and get all the measure ments from Sketch up for the first design you did.

thanks Glenn for all your help.
