I have a sizable amount of auralex foam built up from all my temporary studios. Now I have a more permanent space to set up in.

I'm not going to use t-pins (stretching) or temp tabs (because they are an awful product). So i was thinking of other options.

I hear the foamtak and spraytak are both a huge mess and pretty much impossible to clean off later. So i was considering constructing strip frames in the exact dimensions of the foam.

Any big don'ts about that?

Also I'm almost to the point that I can begin measuring the acoustic response of my room/ monitors. I have the software for analysis.. any specific mic recommendations?

you could just create strips from 15/32" plywood and glue them on to that. glue and screw (or nail) a 1x4 on one edge to stiffen it. you could then use those strips to create a bunch of angled surfaces all around...

Nice! Thanks!

After reading about increasing bass absorption by standing broadband absorbers away from the wall, I was thinking of ways to make the happen. A frames still presets a challenge getting the pieces stable enough hang away from the wall but your idea looks like it would do it.

I know I'll be doing some of the treatment construction myself but I find myself pricing things out on the ats acoustics website and coming up with some livable numbers for their pre-constructed panels. I always find myself there when I'm tired though so that is probably what is making them so tempting.

If I buy materials from them I come up with about $14 dollars per 2" 2x4 panel. They want about 40 dollars already constructed.
